Pediatric Residency Program

Research Track

Research-Boot-Camp.jpg

Our goal is to increase the recruitment of research-oriented medical students to our residency training program and contribute to the pediatric physician-scientist workforce. We are very fortunate to have both the resources of Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine to support budding pediatric clinician scientists.

One applicant per year will be accepted into the Integrated Research Track, which is an American Board of Pediatrics approved pathway. It provides 11 months of protected research time (with a half day per week of continuity clinic) over the three years of training. https://www.abp.org/content/integrated-research-pathway-irp

The Department of Pediatrics has internal resident research grants, commits to supporting trainees who are presenting work at national meetings and provides numerous internal and external mentoring opportunities such as participation in the AMSPDC Frontiers in Science Program.

This pathway is not restricted to MD/PhDs.  Successful applicants will have had substantive research experience either before or during medical school with a record of peer-reviewed publications.

This pathway will have a separate NRMP match code. All salary and benefits are the same as the categorical and social pediatrics programs.
